Board Member: Marvin Kasoff

Marvin Kasoff, a native of Boston, Mass., Marvin has received degrees from a number of colleges and universities, including Harvard, Brandeis, New York University, Hebrew University and others.

A life-long educator who was awarded recognition as National Educator of the Year, Marvin has administered schools in Boston, Chicago and Detroit. In recent years, he has become a successful entrepreneur involved in the launching, merger and acquisition of companies, primarily in the field of telecommunications. Currently, he is also a consultant and advisor to Grass Roots Impact, a national business consulting company, and WIPP, Women Impacting Public Policy, the largest bipartisan lobbying firm in the country representing women-owned businesses, founded by his wife Barbara.

Since moving to San Francisco in 2000, Marvin has been involved in a number of non-profit associations, including Telegraph Hill Dwellers (former Board member), SPUR, Harvard Club of San Francisco (Vice President). A year ago, he co-founded RENEW SF with Wells Whitney and is Vice President of the board. Marvin believes in building coalitions in the community and a collaborative approach in neighborhood planning.
